dresses dresses dresses

There are so many different events and appropriate times to wear the Perfect Dress.

I am patiently waiting for the perfect evening where I can slip on the perfect dress and hit the ground running, no no...
Sprinting. Also patiently waiting for some warm summer weather, we get the occasional spring time warm nights here in NorCal but come on, a few more...please?

I put together a few looks (within the budget) I am hoping to introduce into my beautiful life and some sweet events I have planned for the near future!

-meeting the family
This could be a very crucial outfit that I must admit I have been planning...scary. The key is to keep it classy but cute in this particular case. I mean you could potentially be meeting your future family. You do not want to look like you spent hours on getting ready but at the same time...like you spent hours getting ready.

I like this dress for the occasion for a number of reasons-you cant go wrong with black-the embroidery adds a hint of cute- the cap sleeves offer an elegance- and the cinched waist in this case is a must. go against my tendency to choose only flow dresses!

-Sunset Cruise
I found out about this amazing little sunset cruise while I was out exploring my new county (marin) and I stumbled upon a little town called Tiburon. SO cute. I just happened to be wearing a decent outfit for the occasion too! Anyways, this sunset cruise starts around 6 and goes to about 8 you bring wine, snacks, whatever you want take a boat out on the bay and watch the sunset-how many of my favorite things can we get in one place!? aka-perfect date.

I am obsessed with the colors in the sunset-so I chose this strapless, hippy chic number. I love that the belt throws in the relaxed feel and the white crochet keeps it feeling light. Pair it with some brown sandles (that will end up on the boat floor) and you have yourself a pretty little date dress!

-Date Night at the Academy of Science
The Academy of Science is something that I LOVE to go to. On Thursday night they have an amazing 21 and over event from 6-10 where they serve drinks and it is just fun. The Academy itself is just amazing and fun! I need the perfect dress for this, and of course dinner before...at a beautiful restaurant I am sure. This is the kind of event that is still super casual-and I could wear jeans-but everyone appreciates a lady in a pretty dress.

I am thinking I would pair this with a cute pair of flats and an over the shoulder bag to keep it cas. I like the blocked out green yellow and teal on a almost hemp colored fabric. Its classy enough for dinner at a nice place but still chill enough for the science museum!

-Sundays in the GG Park The sun is out, your favorite people are surrounding you (well most) and you are in a perfect state of mind. what do you wear.........

This dress is perfect for the park-throw a frisbee eat some berries and cheese and lay out on a blanket with your hubby. Show some skin and live in a dream world for a day! Also good for a concert in the park, walking around the rose garden, or whatever the day may bring you!

-Summer Wedding
this is huge, you get invited to a wedding by your new beau for one of his best friends...people you have never met... and need to make a GREAT impression. Almost as big as meeting the parents. yikes.
Rule number 1-do not wear WHITE.
Rule number 2-catch the bouquet.
Rule number 3- just smile, and do not drink too much champagne.

How do I love thee...let me count the ways. It looks like one of your paintings, it has straps, it has the perfect bust, and makes you look like a cupcake (in a good way!!) pair it with a wedge sandel or flats, a clutch and your ready to rock the dance floor with your man and enjoy a beautiful ceremony!

Rebranding-Bare Minerals

K so I recently came across Bare Minerals while we were doing a trunk show at the studio. The woman who actually started the company lives here in SF and gave us samples to give away at the show. I remember using bare minerals in highschool, but did not really like it back then for whatever reason so I decided to give it another try. I loved it by the way. So now I am an observer, duh. As I was looking at the packaging I noticed a different font on the top of the lid-wait...the whole logo is different. its now bareMinerals, in a font that looks similar to this! I like. I am also being observant about the bag that she gave us the samples in...super cute-pink, brown, young looking with cute little sayings all over it and the theme being RETHINK. Rethink why a Big Package is Great. (because the makeup comes in small little tubs) get it? cute right. So then all over it there are other sayings such as rethink the use of a little protection(spf) rethink the idea of shrinking assets, rethink your foundation, rethink the idea of pleasing yourself in public, rethink going bare in public... things like this-so I just wanted to share my thoughts on the New and Improved bareMinerals branding I dig.

books

I have gotten pretty into reading lately.
I have always loved to pick up a good book and read when the time is right, but right now I am so into books that I feel will better my life and my outlook on life.
That is what my life is all about right now, getting to know the real me and letting that shine.
I have fallen in love with an author named Don Miguel Ruiz.
I just finished The Four Agreements, and I have a feeling I will read it 100 more times. It is a life changing book, I picked up The Mastery of Love last night and can not put it down.
Little things he writes you already know but he just reinforces them in ways that you have not.
I pulled a quote from his book The Mastery of Love that reminds me of a current situation.
"i like you; you are wonderful and you make me feel so good. I will bring the flowers you bring the soft music. we will dance and we will both go to the clouds."
a must read for all, it will open your eyes and make you FREE.

Reflecting

( I LOVE this painting by Salvador Dali, the swans are looking at there reflections, and seeing different things...it happens to all of us.)

I often reflect on things in my life...

things that happen, things that have happened, what is about to happen, etc.

Today I got to thinking about who I am and what is truly important to me as a person...

I reflected on my life and how I grew up, and who I was and who I sometimes thought I was.

It is really weird when you come to find the inner essence of who YOU are as a person, and it can be scary at times, it is a true awakening of your soul.

It started when I took a drink of water out of the water fountain at the gym.

Ya, I am a little weirded out by it, but I know people who wouldn't go near the thing.

I then thought back to when I was a child and how I grew up outdoors..doing things some little girls have never done.

I am a pioneer, an adventurer, dare devil if you will.
I have tried to be different things, thought I could be prissy, what's the word I am thinking of...High Maintenance.

But then, I come back down to earth.
I am so blessed that I have that ability.
It is so important to me to have this in my life, it is part of the reason I am so into yoga, it allows you to really reflect on yourself, and not only appreciate your flaws, but love them and embrace them.

Who are YOU, are YOU in there?

The little things

I feel like sometimes I get so consumed by Things. When those things really do not matter at all. I had a realization this morning when I was in the bathroom and the loud sound of birds having their morning chat caught my attention. I opened the bathroom window to see this dead tree FILLED with these beautiful doves. I sat for a moment watching them fill the dead tree with life, and chatting it up profusely with the little black birds on the telephone wire next door. I watched in awe as the birds moved spots and wondered what they were talking about... then came these big hawks with their wings fanned out flying low next to the doves and the other little black birds. The birds started fluttering away, at least the little black birds did. I wonder if they felt scared..

Anyways life is about the little things,
taking a moment to watch the birds, or the quietness of the the still bay.
It is not about cell phones, or material items (not counting my yoga mat) :)

Take a moment, for today, life for the moment...its all a big mystery.

A peak into the 2010 fashion scene

The spring runways were blooming from sexy minis at Dior to prim jackets at Dolce and Gabbana.

I love that the fashion industry travels to some other dimension in time and comes up with fabulous looks for SPRING, so we can already get our shop on. Fashion forecasters spend their time just observing and poking around at different things to come up with a pallet of colors and fabrics and textures, and prints.

Sometimes I am surprised at certain colors and things they come up with...such as the 80s coming back and neons a few seasons ago. I guess the whole summer thing got a little out of control.

My favorite collections are usually the resort wear collections or spring, I just LOVE spring.

This season didn't cease to amaze, i love my floral prints and to be honest i was not surprised, what is the first thing you think of when you think of SPRING---flowers, blooming, etc.

So again, I think they might be taking it too literately but they ARE the EXPERTS. so I will let them do there job until I think of a way to get up in there.

Anyways... at least its not ALL black...

I WAS however surprised at the 2010 spring looks for LOUIS VUITTON RTW.
All of the models sported huge afros, along with some VERYYY unique looks.
Lots of hanging tassels, and fox tails? cool.
I must say though.... the BAGS they carried were spectacular which is what most ppl think of when they think of LV.
And what about those shoeees?
IT must be MARC JACOBS taking control--i would love to get a peak inside of his MIND.
