A peak into the 2010 fashion scene

The spring runways were blooming from sexy minis at Dior to prim jackets at Dolce and Gabbana.

I love that the fashion industry travels to some other dimension in time and comes up with fabulous looks for SPRING, so we can already get our shop on. Fashion forecasters spend their time just observing and poking around at different things to come up with a pallet of colors and fabrics and textures, and prints.

Sometimes I am surprised at certain colors and things they come up with...such as the 80s coming back and neons a few seasons ago. I guess the whole summer thing got a little out of control.

My favorite collections are usually the resort wear collections or spring, I just LOVE spring.

This season didn't cease to amaze, i love my floral prints and to be honest i was not surprised, what is the first thing you think of when you think of SPRING---flowers, blooming, etc.

So again, I think they might be taking it too literately but they ARE the EXPERTS. so I will let them do there job until I think of a way to get up in there.

Anyways... at least its not ALL black...

I WAS however surprised at the 2010 spring looks for LOUIS VUITTON RTW.
All of the models sported huge afros, along with some VERYYY unique looks.
Lots of hanging tassels, and fox tails? cool.
I must say though.... the BAGS they carried were spectacular which is what most ppl think of when they think of LV.
And what about those shoeees?
IT must be MARC JACOBS taking control--i would love to get a peak inside of his MIND.

Current Obession

OBSESSED. Truly. Love. This. Shit.

Okayyy so for ANY one person who has not heard of this brand called PaPaYa! You are seriously missing out on some UNREAL inspirational pieces.
Stationary, Wall Hangings, Office Supplies, Jewelry, Totes, Water Bottles, Journals, Gift Wrap, Magnates, Gifts, Cards, I could go on.
I came upon some cards while browsing for a birthday card for a friend and thought, well this is different...mystyle. I ran into the designs again at my yoga studio Yoga Works, and immediately had to know more. WHO does this fabulous art....

It has brought a lot of inspiration lately...
Although I think I love it because it reminds me a lot of what I do already.

Either way, I had to share my obsession... I have already purchased stationary, greeting cards, and soon to come a new journal!

Oh my gosh maybe some Christmas gift wrap. Positively FAB.

So I went to their website and got even more into reading about the brand...and found the contributors page and basically fell in LOVE with this lady Anahata Katkin, who is an amazing artist for the Papaya! brand. along with a few others who are just as amazing and inspirational.

Art in the 20th Century.

My favorite artist. Salvador Dali.

Why?

I dont know... maybe its the hidden sexual desires in his paintings, maybe it is his love for his wife, maybe it is just his interesting mustache! Or maybe its that he was still alive when I was at least for a year. OHH or is it the way he titles his art... most are familiar with The Persistence of Memory (featured)

As I look back at historical artists 20th century at least. There are a few that stand out in everybody's minds...
Picasso (Guernica)
Van Gogh
Edvard Munch (The Scream)
Monet (Waterlilies)
Richard Hamilton (whom I also adore for his unique inquisitive mind)
Henri Matisse (known for The Dance)
Georgia O'Keeffe (people think her paintings look like a woman's certain body part...hmm)
Piet Mondrian ( I am sure a lot of MODERN style these days comes from a certain painting of his called Tableau I you may know this)
Jackson Pollock(mmmm love him too!)
Roy Lichtenstein (Another Favorite known for his Pop Art)

"Chaos battles against order, hardness against softness, the raw against the coocked, biology against geology, farm workers against powerful landowners, red against white, republic against nation."

Yoga.Works

Okay....

I am obsessed with yoga duh. So what are the TRUE benefits of yoga and how do they transfer into everyday life?

We live and breath in this life, in this body everyday...how can we make that better? Trust me...the Secret is within.

For Me:
-Learning to control my thoughts, not letting them control me
-Allowing other peoples thoughts and actions not to affect me as much
-Flexibility overall, mind body spirit.
-Understanding myself better
-(these are just mental things!)
-Body strength-flexibility-tone
-Mind strength-when things get tough imagine that difficult pose you just can't get into yet!
-A spiritual connection-movement with breath, meditation this is called i suppose ( think its different for everyone?)
-A natural detox

According the The Yoga Movement:
  • The physical benefits: Creates a toned, flexible, and strong body. Improves respiration, energy, and vitality. Helps to maintain a balanced metabolism. Promotes cardio and circulatory health. Relieves pain. Helps you look and feel younger than your age. Improves your athletic performance.

  • The mental benefits: Helps you relax and handle stressful situations more easily. Teaches you how to quiet the mind so you can focus your energy where you want it to go - into a difficult yoga pose, on the tennis court or golf course, or in the office. Encourages positive thoughts and self-acceptance.

  • The spiritual benefits: Builds awareness of your body, your feelings, the world around you, the needs of others. Promotes an interdependence between mind, body, and spirit. Helps you live the concept of "oneness."

So I guess it IS working for me...

I will have to wait until I am a bit older to see the true benefits though, anti aging and all of this sounds SO wonderful! Hey...one more benefit i have something to look forward to! :)

woodstock fashion-4-0(happy birthday)

Woodstock....

The music, the fashion, the people, the one festival that started them all...
well it's back by popular demand. no not the classic musicians that made music what it is, but the fashion ladies and gentlemen! tans, oranges, blues, browns, coral, yellow, blues, and of course you can't forget that green.
The mood of the fashion that was mainstream in 1969 was shown on the days of the dirty, sun-soaked music festival Aug. 15 to 17, 1969. This is just a reminder of the let-loose, come-as-you-are vibe of the era of lOVE. where the hell can we find it now? Woodstock, in its tribal vibe was not for fashion at all like festivals are now. No labels, clothing-optional, and a whole lot of style and you can not forget about that music.

Hopefully you all founda little love on Saturday, continue the party until Monday, it is Woodstocks bday for goodness sake!
Try to relive a little of the fashion in your wardrobe this weekend, a little fringe, aviators, turquoise jewels, or just a huge PEACE sign. because we could all use a little bit of that :)

seeing the same

I really believe that everyone sees everything in a different way...

ya, it might be the same thing that we are looking at.. but the way we see it could be completely different. The colors could be different, the shape, the beauty.

This could also be with anything... people, animals, trees, flowers, sunsets, clouds, mountains, paper.. this interests me a lot because I am an artist I think I see a lot of things in a different way, for instance I just looked outside and saw a tree that I thought looked like a dance pose.. I see beauty in almost everything.

what do you see?

The bold and the beautiful-Fashion Icon DVF

When you think about who you are and what makes you, well you it is sometimes a hard thought to process. You think of the things you wear, the way you style your hair, what you do in your spare time, is it good enough? are you strange? different...normal? There are a lot of things to consider.

One woman that I admire for probably knowing who she is better than a lot of people, especially in the fashion industry (when it can be so hard to find who you are) is Diane von Furstenberg. The lovely lady of fashion herself. To me she shines and the words that she says make almost too much sense. One of the icons of fashion that will live on forever. She is an icon that keeps fashion magical, exciting, and feminine.

Every season she lights up the runway with abnormal but so fabulous you can almost taste it collections. When it all started in a simple shop in Florence with the Wrapdress. Celebrities such as Eva Longoria-Parker are huge fans of the simple wear it anywhere, and do whatever you want with it dress. She has now used her talent to create collections that storm the runway with ready-to-wear, her beautiful resort wear, and even luggage. the label exudes a certain femininity, timelessness, and style that no other designer can compete with.

She has even appeared on a commercial that I have to watch over and over again even though it is just an American Express commercial. Her ads are even timesless, capturning moments of art upon art... paint being thrown on a canvas with a splatter effect, photographers capturing the models beauty, writers writing, and a soft melody playing in the background. all of it beautiful. all of it DVF.

“This,” von Furstenberg said as she made her way from table to table, “is what life is all about. Fun!”
